The Scarlet Thread (Joshua 2:1-24)

She was rejected by society, her clients saw her in secret, "respectable" people did not want to be associated with her, only at night under the shadow of darknes. She was of a "questionable" character. But her proffession enabled her to get information from her "clients" about a strange group of people, who as slaves escaped the whip lashes of their masters and defied the great Egyptian chariots and army, to whom the waters of the red sea stood still, whom conquerd cities leaving none behind. She had not done badly for a woman of her proffession, she was pretty well to do, having a house on the city wall, and being able to financially cater for her family, but when the opportunity arose, she took it, making a choice to risk her life to protect the men from the strange nation who had poured our terror on the neighbouring cities. They served a God who was mighty and able to save. Rahab decided to help these strangers in exchange for her life and that of her family. And God was faithful, not regarding her spiritual state but seeing the rather the state of the heart, and he gave in exchange a scarlet thread, a symbol of hope, a symbol of the blood of Jesus that would be shed on the cross, a symbol of the blood of the passover, and destruction passed over Rahab and her family.
The scarlet thread is still available today, maybe you have given up hope, the situation you have found yourself looks useless, you have made wrong decisions, and taken wrong turns in the journey of your life, but look up, there will always be a scarlet thread in the window, look up and see it, its there, ask God to open your eyes, and reach out, there will always be a scarlet thread....
